SWEDEN, September 10 - Published

On 5 September, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard visited Uzhhorod in western Ukraine for meetings with, among others, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha. The Swedish Foreign Minister also visited the Ukrainian public service broadcaster Suspilne and met with representatives of the Red Cross.

Ms Malmer Stenergard travelled to Ukraine to reaffirm Sweden’s support for Ukraine, its ongoing efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, and its path to the EU.

“The visit to Uzhhorod has been important to show Sweden’s collective support to Ukraine and witness Ukraine’s resilience. Supporting Ukraine is the Government’s top foreign policy priority, and we have increased our support to Ukraine every year since the full-scale invasion,” Ms Malmer Stenergard said.

During the visit, Ms Malmer Stenergard received the Order of Princess Olga from President Zelenskyy for her significant and personal commitment to cooperation between the two countries, and for her support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
